Important Updates Following SoG Announcement

Dear Customer

Following the SoG announcement we are delighted to announce that DHS will be making some changes as we move into phase 3 from Monday 18th. It will mean that we will be allowed more staff on site albeit not a full team and that limited numbers of customers will be allowed into the building. This is great news but there are still some limitations due to the restrictions that are in place, which will include social distancing and as safety of our customers and staff is of paramount importance, we will need to have measures in place to ensure that everybody is able to keep at a safe distance from one another.

What’s going to change? – Almost all of our staff will now be allowed into the buildings and so we will revert back to our normal opening hours of 7.30am – 5.00pm . Customers will be allowed to enter the building albeit in limited numbers and under restriction. In order for this to happen we are going to have to make some fairly radical changes, to the shop in particular, please find attached a plan of the building highlighting these changes, this will be displayed in the store and the door will be supervised to ensure that everyone stays safe.

The Trade Counter – The shop has been marked out in two metre blocks throughout the building, customers will be directed to the right as they walk in (the tool aisle) which is marked with feet floor stickers, the normal passage to the counter will be one way leading from the counter back to the front door. There will be three computers in use at the counter, the customers will be dealt with at the counter and once they have been served and have left the counter via aisle one, the next queuing customer will be called forward and dealt with. The aisles at the rear will also be based on a one way system with stickers on the floor directing the customers. There will be no entry allowed into the counter area from the rear door.

The collection point will remain at the rear door for those customers choosing to phone orders in and collect, this can still be done by email to

Unfortunately the coffee machine will continue to be unavailable until further notice.

PPE – Hand sanitiser and gloves will be available at the entrances for the customers use, we ask you to wash your hands prior to entering the building. An external foot pump, hand basin has been ordered for the front of the building and will also be installed on arrival. (these will be available for sale if required, please enquire at the counter)

Rear Store – This area will remain out of bounds to the customers other than for collections.

Showroom – This will reopen although we will not be able to accommodate all the staff in the office, The office in the showroom will be out of bounds to customers to ensure that we are able to maintain a two metre distance from others and the door between the showroom and the counter will be locked for the same reason. There will be signage in place reminding customers about social distancing.

This is going to be a learning curve and I am sure we are going to come across some difficulties along the way, please bear in mind that we will be doing everything possible to meet with your expectations but service is likely to be slower due to the restrictions placed upon us. We will be keeping an eye on the situation and adjust it accordingly as and when required, if you feel that we are able to improve our service to you, please do not hesitate to let us know how, if we can do it and stay within the regulations we will do so.

Thank you for your continued support throughout this difficult time, we look forward to welcoming you back into our store
Best regards – stay safe
